This request for solicitation will enable the City to comply with the Recovered Organic Waste Products Procurement requirements established by SB 1383. The City of Oakland Environmental Services Division of the Public Works Department is seeking qualified vendors to sell compost to a Direct Service Provider (as defined by SB 1383), (farmers or ranchers) to be applied to crops, landscapes, and gardens in California, to take advantage of the regional carbon sequestration benefits of compost application, as required by the City’s SB 1383 requirement. The City requires Recovered Organic Waste Products Procurement or Brokering (“Services”) to meet the City’s SB 1383 requirement for annual procurement target of compost. The successful respondent will provide all necessary reporting to allow the City to be fully compliant with all applicable State Laws and CalRecycle requirements. For the full regulatory requirements of procurement, including reporting requirements, please be sure to review and understand SB 1383 Article 12 regulations attached to this solicitation. Please also be sure to read and understand SB1383 requirements which can be found at https://calrecycle.ca.gov/organics/slcp/ The resulting contract will be for a period of one (1) year with an option to extend for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, at the sole discretion of the city. The total contract value is estimated to be $250,000.00 inclusive of any optional years if exercised. The City of Oakland makes no guarantee as to the dollar value of orders to be authorized pursuant to the award of a contract.
