SMUD seeks Grant strategy services to identify and recommend grant opportunities that support the Zero Carbon Plan. The goal is to support SMUD’s Grants and External funding team to identify the most relevant opportunities and leverage SMUD’s strategic advantages to provide the highest likelihood of winning funding.

Over the past year SMUD has developed a strategy for pursuing State and Federal funding to support the 2030 Zero Carbon Plan (ZCP). Using the ZCP as a guide and the objectives of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, (IIJA), the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and the California Energy Commission (CEC) initiatives SMUD developed 14 priority areas for funding, created an evaluation, selection, and governance process to pursue opportunities with the best alignment to the ZCP. The 14 priority areas include, but are not limited to, advanced and emerging technologies and business models related to distributed energy resources, renewable generation, grid of the future, electric transportation, building electrification technologies, infrastructure deferral and design, workforce development, information security, and transmission, distribution, and community resilience. This RFP is a continuation of those efforts.
