Over the past year SMUD has developed a strategy for pursuing State and Federal funding to support the 2030 Zero Carbon Plan (ZCP). Using the ZCP as a guide and the objectives of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, (IIJA) the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), various California Energy Commission initiatives SMUD brought together teams of Subject Matter Experts to develop a series of Clean Energy Concept papers to socialize our objectives with agencies and potential partners. Additionally, we created a steering committee and meet weekly to review recently released Notices of Intent (NOI) and Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA).
SMUD is also pursuing funding through Cal OES and FEMA to mitigate interruptions to service caused by weather or other natural disasters.
This RFP is a continuation of those efforts.
