CDCR is requesting a Contractor to provide Peer Intervention training specific to the
correctional environment. This training shall develop, market, implement, and support
evidence-based Peer Intervention training that will focus on prevention of misconduct,
reduction of mistakes in the line of duty, and employee wellness for CDCR and CCHCS.
CDCR/CCHCS intends to implement this training to foster a healthy workplace culture
within the Department. The training shall focus on increasing employee wellness by
offering staff meaningful, evidence-based training to prevent harm, and reduce mistakes.
CDCR/CCHCS currently does not offer evidence-based training to provide staff the tools
to be successful regarding Peer Intervention strategies. Implementing this training would
help create a better workplace culture within the Department and bring CDCR/CCHCS
into alignment with other law enforcement best practices. Failure to implement this training
would result in the potential of increased litigation and allegations of harm by the
