Engineer’s Estimate: $30,000.00-$40,000.00

The City of Arcata (City) is soliciting bids for the Bloomfield Park Improvements Project. The Project includes improvements consisting of installing a concrete pad and playground area at Bloomfield Park, located at 1835 & 1845 Zehndner Avenue in Arcata, CA.

The WORK consists of the following: removal and disposal of trees, tree stumps, roots, debris, other woody material, and vegetation within the limits of construction; saw-cutting, removal, and disposal of wooden border, concrete sidewalks, curbs, storm drain pipe; provide construction traffic control and a specific traffic management plan; provide excavation and embankment necessary to establish grade for the playground area; delivery, placement, grading and compaction of aggregate base subgrade; placement and installation of geotextile fabric; placement of Portland cement concrete curbs, including, but not limited to, minor excavations, supplying, grading and compaction of materials, placement of forms, placing and finishing of concrete and other materials necessary to preform asphalt shear-ins; placement of the Header Board; and closing the existing fence opening and installing a new fence opening at 1835 & 1845 Zehndner Avenue.

A mandatory pre-bid walk through of the job site, located at 1835 & 1845 Zehndner Avenue, Arcata, CA will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Prospective bidders must arrive on time and sign-in to be eligible to bid on the project.

Projected duration of this project is August 1, 2023 through August 31, 2023.

Sealed bids will be received at the City Manager’s Office, 736 F Street, Arcata, California until 11 AM on Thursday, July 6, 2023. Bids must be submitted within a sealed envelope with the bidder’s name and address and labeled: “Bloomfield Park Improvements Project.” All responses must be made on the Bid Proposal and Schedule provided in Attachment B to be considered for award.

Contractors must possess, at minimum, a Class A General Contractor’s License to bid, possess a valid Business License from the City of Arcata prior to commencing work, and demonstrate the necessary qualifications to complete the work described in the Scope of Work in Attachment A. The selected contractor will enter into a construction contract (Attachment C - Sample Construction Contract) prior to commencing work.

The City of Arcata has determined that prevailing wages apply to this Project. The selected contractor must register with the State Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code Section 1725.5 prior to award of a contract.
